We’ve probably all booked our own flights by now. Orbitz, Expedia, Priceline, Kayak, SkyScanner and dozens of other companies allow us to book cheap flights but what I have found is that they don’t usually offer a feature to select multiple cities of travel. So how does one buy a ticket to visit multiple cities? If you want to keep things simple and leverage the power of the world’s best search engine, all you need to do is search for cheap airfare with Google Flights.
One Way with Google Flights
Most people already know how to book a one way flight with most services but since Google is the best search engine in the world, it makes booking flights quite a bit easier than using most services. You can select how many stops you can tolerate from nonstop to 2 stopovers. You can select which airline companies that you do or do not want to fly with.
Round Trip with Google Flights
This is what most people are looking for when they search for flights but Google flights does this so much better by finding all of the best deals from all of the airlines in one place. You can choose to omit certain airlines and
Multi-City with Google Flights
My personal favorite way to fly is with multi-city flights. This allows me to travel to more places in the same trip without having to return to the airport that I originally flew into. With a multi city flight, I can fly into Lisbon, and then fly back from Amsterdam to NYC. In reality, this is just buying two one way flights but when you book them all at once with Google Flights, you often save a bit of money.
One of the most common types of multi city flights is called an “Open Jaw” flight. These types of flights involve 3 cities instead of just 2 cities like most round trip flights. Here’s what the two types of open jaw flights might look like.
1. You fly from Denver to NYC and then from NYC to Los Angeles instead of flying back to CO. Denver, NYC and LA are the 3 cities involved in this open jaw.
2. You fly from Denver to NYC and fly from Boston back to Denver. This means that you have to get from NYC to Boston on your own. Denver, NYC and Boston are the 3 cities involved with this itinerary.
If you want to see more places on your next trip, you should take a look at booking some multi-city flight itineraries with Google Flights. I think you’ll be glad that you did.
